3 Not Fun Things

Here are a few pictures my mom took of us on Father's Day. Look at that baby! He's already quite a bit bigger, especially his cheeks.

My favorite. Look at those loving little brothers!

So life has been fun and crazy around here with 4 little kids. I feel so frazzled and tired all the time but I love watching the kids play and learn and grow. Here are a few less than fun things that have happened this week.

#1 Darren has developed sores in his diaper area to the point that I wanted to take him to the doctor. So I called and made an appointment for the next day. Annie had a fever and acted sick that night and ended up throwing up late that night so I took her to the doctor with us. Turns out Darren's is a fungus aggravated because he's in diapers so she suggested potty training. He loves the underwear and sitting on the potty, but refuses to go on the potty. I should be glad though because he'll come running to me saying, "Pee. Pee," and takes me to the spot on the floor where he'd just peed. Oh well, its a step. We're just trying to change him as often as possible and he puts up a fight so that's really fun. Annie ended up having a kidney infection! Poor kid had only mentioned in passing that her side hurt as she went running off. We caught it early but it is still bad enough that we have to be really careful. She had to have a big shot Thursday and today and will again on Monday. Poor kid. It is actually e coli caused by improper wiping which means I have to fight with my strong willed 4 year old and not let her do it herself. TMI? Sorry. Its just been a blast around here. When we went home and told Rick about the shot I said, "Daddy, Annie was so brave." She said, "No I wasn't Mom. I was very freaking out!"

#2 As we were stopped at a convenience store on Pioneer Day I saw someone drinking beer in his car. He got out and threw away 2 cans and popped another. I told Rick and we called the police. Nobody better be drinking and driving in my neighborhood. Its just something I feel strongly about. Well, we were almost to our friend's house and had to turn around and go back to talk to the police. They said he wasn't acting intoxicated but could tell he had been drinking and would try to get him to walk home. I hope it all turned out okay. I really wasn't trying to get him arrested, I just didn't want him to drive again. That was an experience that I could have done without.

#3 Maybe I'm the only one who has done this but has anyone else done a huge shopping trip and then forgotten their wallet? I've only done it once or twice but today when I got to the register I couldn't find my wallet. I couldn't figure out where I could have left it but called Rick and he couldn't find it either. Just at the point when I'm starting to get worried, Carlyn and I got back to the van and my wallet had fallen out of my purse in between the front seats. Whew. Crisis averted. They checked all my groceries and had suspended the transaction so I just had to go back and swipe my card. Not too bad, but I'm really glad that my wallet wasn't missing.

I have done that a few times and had to run out to the car for my wallet.

I'm glad you guys called the police. When we were at Disneyland this past June my mom and I were sitting at the Pier area in California Adventure waiting for the guys to come back with the food. I looked over and was watching a really cute little girl about maybe 3 and she was tugging on her dad's shirt saying that she was thirsty. So her dad just handed her what I thought was a soda can at first and she proceded to take 3-4 big gulps and then put the can back on the table. It was then that I realized she was chugging her dad's beer. And he had been the one to hand it to her. When she went to take her 4th set of huge chugs I had had enough and went and turned his nasty butt in. I don't know what they ended up doing, but the lady I talked to was really upset and said that it's still against the law to give anyone under the age of 21 alcohol even if they are in Disneyland. She went off to get someone above her and I hope that guy got really punished. I just couldn't believe it. And we wonder why our country has so many alcohol problems. Thanks again for keeping our neighborhood safe. PS-CUTE family pic!

So cute to see your new little addition. He is a doll! Sorry about the diaper rashes and kidney infections. Sounds like your summer has been as fun as ours. Are you going to the reunion? We likely won't, my sisters from Colorado and Arizona are both coming that weekend. BTW is four totally overwhelming? Everyone tells me differently.
