3 Not Fun Things

Here are a few pictures my mom took of us on Father's Day. Look at that baby! He's already quite a bit bigger, especially his cheeks.

My favorite. Look at those loving little brothers!

So life has been fun and crazy around here with 4 little kids. I feel so frazzled and tired all the time but I love watching the kids play and learn and grow. Here are a few less than fun things that have happened this week.

#1 Darren has developed sores in his diaper area to the point that I wanted to take him to the doctor. So I called and made an appointment for the next day. Annie had a fever and acted sick that night and ended up throwing up late that night so I took her to the doctor with us. Turns out Darren's is a fungus aggravated because he's in diapers so she suggested potty training. He loves the underwear and sitting on the potty, but refuses to go on the potty. I should be glad though because he'll come running to me saying, "Pee. Pee," and takes me to the spot on the floor where he'd just peed. Oh well, its a step. We're just trying to change him as often as possible and he puts up a fight so that's really fun. Annie ended up having a kidney infection! Poor kid had only mentioned in passing that her side hurt as she went running off. We caught it early but it is still bad enough that we have to be really careful. She had to have a big shot Thursday and today and will again on Monday. Poor kid. It is actually e coli caused by improper wiping which means I have to fight with my strong willed 4 year old and not let her do it herself. TMI? Sorry. Its just been a blast around here. When we went home and told Rick about the shot I said, "Daddy, Annie was so brave." She said, "No I wasn't Mom. I was very freaking out!"

#2 As we were stopped at a convenience store on Pioneer Day I saw someone drinking beer in his car. He got out and threw away 2 cans and popped another. I told Rick and we called the police. Nobody better be drinking and driving in my neighborhood. Its just something I feel strongly about. Well, we were almost to our friend's house and had to turn around and go back to talk to the police. They said he wasn't acting intoxicated but could tell he had been drinking and would try to get him to walk home. I hope it all turned out okay. I really wasn't trying to get him arrested, I just didn't want him to drive again. That was an experience that I could have done without.

#3 Maybe I'm the only one who has done this but has anyone else done a huge shopping trip and then forgotten their wallet? I've only done it once or twice but today when I got to the register I couldn't find my wallet. I couldn't figure out where I could have left it but called Rick and he couldn't find it either. Just at the point when I'm starting to get worried, Carlyn and I got back to the van and my wallet had fallen out of my purse in between the front seats. Whew. Crisis averted. They checked all my groceries and had suspended the transaction so I just had to go back and swipe my card. Not too bad, but I'm really glad that my wallet wasn't missing.

Charlie

Our sweet little one joined our household on Friday, as most of you know. I'm so happy to have him here. :) I did enjoy feeling the baby but I was very excited for that day. I got really nervous at the thought of another kid and the surgery and the whole thing. Even if we hadn't decided that our little family was complete after this one, I would have decided after that C-section. I'm not sure what it was about it, but as I laid there waiting for them to start the surgery I started getting really serious and kind of freaked out. Thank goodness Rick was there to hold my hand and he sensed how I was feeling. I held it together until it was over and then there was a little boy there to keep my attention. Thank goodness for that too! It was exciting to not know until then the baby's gender. I heard Rick say, "Bonny, I see some dark hair." Then I heard a baby crying and Rick saying, "Bon, its a boy." I was really surprised because it was perfect.

Anyway, I'm feeling pretty good, but I am very sore. It has been my best recovery so far, but I only just made it home from the hospital, so we'll see. Charlie has been a really great baby who only cries when he's hungry. He was 8 lbs and 21 inches. He's so skinny he just looks tiny. Anyway, enough talk. Here are some pictures.

Baby Charlie

Grandma got him to smile and I was lucky enough to capture it.

Big sister Carlyn loving her brother

Big sister Annie loving her brother while big brother doesn't want to share little brother.

Darren walked straight up to Charlie and held him like this. It made Rick emotional because it was very sweet.

We had a little trouble with his blood sugar and Daddy was giving him the bottle, which he really didn't like. Let's face it, Mommy's milk is better :)
Our cute little family!

Me and Charlie. My 4th little angel.

Ultrasound for Charlie

Thanks for voting in my poll. I am one who would have said I could never not find out, so I guess I would have been wrong! I'm now 21 weeks as of Friday. I had my ultrasound on Wednesday where they put my due date back 11 days, so not quite 2 full weeks. The new due date is June 12th, which is a Friday, so the doctor said he/she would be born a week earlier probably the 4th or 5th. It is always very reassuring, as many of you agree, to go to the ultrasound and see everything for yourself. I love to see the little one with his/her tiny heartbeat and see the spine, head, fingers, toes, etc. I just love it! I'm always quite paranoid until I can see it for myself.
In the first picture you can see a really good profile of the baby, on the tape you can see his/her mouth opening and closing as he/she swallows. (I hate to say "it".) In the 2nd picture you get a different view of the skull.
These pictures aren't as clear here as the actual ones, but the 3rd picture you can see the head again with one hand above the head and the other over the chest on the left side of the picture. Carlyn especially loved that she could see the hands. The last picture is where you can see the under side of the bum, the right leg and the feet. This is also the one that makes us think that possibly it could be a boy because there is a definite shadow there between, but the ultrasound tech said not to judge by that but she may have been covering up for showing us too much too. :) We really are okay either way. I think its a girl and Rick thinks it is a boy so we'll be happy with either and surprised either way!
